Evidence suggests that there has been tremendous increase in the use of illicit drugs and reported numbers point to over 3 million drug addicts in India. This surge in Drug Abuse has brought up a major threat to the quality of human life. Drugs have proliferated across regions and countries leaving ugly scars in its wake and are very injurious to health; so to let the abusers aware about the consequences of drugs, many efforts are being made by Government as well as several Social Organizations like Dera Sacha Sauda.
Dera Sacha Sauda, Spiritual Organization led by Gurmeet Baba Ram Rahim Singh, is dynamically working to raise awareness about the negative impacts of drug abuse. They have been conducting several processions in cities, towns and villages of every state to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. Dera Sacha Sauda educates people about the ill effects of alcoholism and substance abuse on the individual, the family and society at large.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed on June 26 and the motive behind evolution of this day since 1987, has been to nurture a society aware of the Drug Addiction consequences. UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has unveiled that worldwide nearly 200 million people are using illicit drugs such as opiates, cocaine, cannabis and sedative hypnotics. Individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world support this day with the aim to cease Drug addiction.
The individuals who have developed drug problems and fail to get the required health and social support, Dera Sacha Sauda offers a helping hand to them. Dera Sacha Sauda has been instrumental in campaigning extensively against drug addiction and is running de-addiction centers where the drug abusers are provided health, medical, financial aid and much more.
